Publisher review:Auditory On-center Off-surround neural interactions - Neural model to specally sharpen frequency spectrum. This function models neural excitation and inhibition around a region of an excitation pattern. i.e. it causes spectral sharpening of the excitation pattern which is useful for pitch discrimination models based on the auditory system.
This type of lateral inhibition model was first used by Yost & Hill(1979) and the default values of Kex and Kin agree with both psychoacoustic and physiological data where Kex and Kin describe excitory and inhibitory regions respectively as a function of the ERB of the channel.
This function works well in conjunction with my GammaTone toolkit, middle ear function and Average energy spectrum models freely available on matlabcentral. Requirements: ยท MATLAB Release: R14SP1
